Skills needed for these positions involve attention to detail, eagerness in making connections in the local community, organization, ability to complete work independently, ability to work efficiently under stress, a sense of humor and interest in the non-profit arts sector.
Sponsorship:
- Help soliciting local businesses so that the primary team can go after the heavy hitters.
Programming:
- Recording/editing schedule on website throughout the programming process so that there is an online reference
- Assist with contacting bands/keeping contact info current
- Assist with mailing out the break down, line up, load-in times, schedule and venue info for bands when the schedule has been solidified
- Assist with paying out bands after conclusion of festival
- Research potential bands and talent
General Administration:
The general administrative volunteer works with all staff members to support various project-based tasks.- Taking notes during weekly meetings and distributing them to the rest of the crew
- Compile agenda with Jeff for each meeting and email one day prior
- Flyering
- Deliver and pick up design work (posters, cards, etc) and other logistical ad hoc jobs
During the Festival
- Assist with logistics of out-of-town bands
- Compose itinerary for out-of-town/larger acts
- Work various shows throughout festival: function as MCMF liaison to venue, set up and man merchandise table
- Photograph performances during festival
- Film performances during festival
Publicity & Marketing:
- Distribute publicity materials and compile press clips
- Prepare appropriate images for publicity, press contacts, and outreach materials
Volunteer Coordinator:
The MCMF Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for organizing and recruiting volunteers that assist the staff with their individual duties before and after the festival. Prior to the festival, the Volunteer Coordinator should conduct regular volunteer meetings, create and distribute a volunteer schedule, continually update the volunteer contact information on the website and organize groups to go flyering. While the festival is underway, they must monitor the volunteer schedule and be available to cover no-shows or under-staffed venues if they are not already working elsewhere.
We ask that this person be self-motivated, detail oriented, diplomatic, proactive and possess the ability to work efficiently under stress.
Event Planner for Sustainable Energy Park Event & Balkan Brass Parade:
There are currently multiple volunteer slots available for this position
- Bike Attendant
- Coordinating and confirming acts, travel and line-up
- Logistics of parade route with city officials
- Erecting and striking equipment on day of event
- Photographing and filming event
